Updated our China-Tibet route for 2026: Kunming to Lhasa.
16 days, gradual altitude gain from 1800m to 5200m, asphalt roads and fantastic scenery.
Golden Temple, Tiger Leaping Gorge, Shangri-La, Lhasa, and, of course, Everest Base Camp – this is just a partial list of what awaits you.
This is essentially the combination of two of our tours into one route. Starting at 1800m, climbing to Lhasa at 3600m, and then further to 5200m at Everest Base Camp.
We slightly shortened the Tibet part of the route. Beyond EBC (Everest Base Camp) lies travel through non-touristy regions of China, where there's a town with one road, one hotel, two cafes, and not much to do. Some past participants gave us feedback that hotels in some places weren't great, and there are no alternatives there. It's beautiful, wild, empty, but overall, these days can be skipped.

- Shangri-La – Deqen, 180 km
- Deqen – Markam – Rumei Town, 280 km
- Rumei – Rawu, 400 km
- Ranwu – Nyingchi, 355 km
- Nyingchi – Lhasa, 400 km
- Lhasa, rest day
- Lhasa – Gyantse – Shigatse, 380 km
- Shigatse – Everest Base Camp – Tashizhong Town, 300 km
- Tashizhong – Shigatse, 350 km
- Shigatse – Lhasa, 300 km
- Lhasa, departure
We plan to run this tour for a small group of 4-6 people + 2-3 RMT guides in a semi-scout format from May 6-20, 2026.
