Route: where we will go

Moscow – Seliger island – Valday - Moscow

Day 1.  Moscow – Seliger, 470 km

We will leave Moscow down the Rublevskoe highway. Our first stob will be at Savvino-Storozhevskiy monastery in Zvenigorod where will go for a swim and try a refreshing traditional Russian drink – kvas. After that down the secondary roads we will ride to Seliger island. You will enjoy beautiful and empty roads together with fantastic sites we will drive through. In Ostashkov - a capital of this district, You will visit Nealo-Stolbenskiy monastery named so in honor of Ven. Neal who passed away here.

Day 2.  Seliger - Valday, 280 km.

Off-road day! There will be plenty of decent gravel roads with a few sandy stages on our way from Seliger to Valday. The distance is not that big, nevertheless our speed won’t be over 40-50 km/h. On our way we will see a very special place – the source of the Volga river, which is so narrow that You will be able to step over it. After an exciting day we will approach our hotel placed at the shore of the lake where we will get beer and Russian banya.

Day 3. Valday neighborhood, 240 km

During this day you can either have some rest and do nothing or you can spend half of the day exploring the neighborhood. And there is plenty to see: a wooden railway station in Borovichi, abandoned villages, Iverskiy monastery etc. In the evening we can have some BBQ right under the sky.

Day 4: Valday - Moscow, 500 km

We will go back to Moscow today. Somewere next to Tver we will leave the highway and down the secondary and gravel roads we will reach a ferry crossing in Konakovo. There we will have lunch and share our thoughts and emotions about this tour. After that there will be only road back to Moscow.
