Last year we went to Magadan alone the famous Road of Bones two times, in July and August. Below is teaser about this ride, so far, this is the best creation of my beloved wife. Two words about the tour. Despite the fact that we had been preparing for this trip for a long time, still there were many unexpected situations. To begin with 2018 BMW updated almost the entire line of its motorcycles, both the F series, and R series, and as a result, many suppliers of accessories and spare parts simply did not have time to rebuild their conveyors / production to new models. In winter we ordered engine protection, crash bars and hand protection on the F850GS (on which we did that tour), and in May the suppliers told us that they were not in time, delivery would not be earlier than July, most probably August. Of all the suppliers, only one company managed to rebuild the assembly line, it was Touratech, but the prices for the new exclusive accessories were outrageous in Russia. As a result, we brought something from the United States (Alex was there at BMW MOA in June), something we hand-made in Moscow in the motorcycle custom shop, then part of it was sent to Vladivostok, something to Yakutsk.
One more thing is that for new F850GS BMW dealers did not have some spare parts, for example air filters, chains, sockets, oil seals and anthers. When we went to Magadan for the first time we had everything in good condition after 10 000 km of the Trans-Siberian Road. But for the second tour we needed to change some spare parts and it was not easy to do that. Furthermore plenty of other obstacles happened – we had flowed radiators, once got bad gasoline, air filters clogged, one of a motorcycle had a broken wheel, oil seals and anthers flowed, we bent the drawbar of the trailer and got into a flood in Blagoveshchensk. Now, looking back, all this is remembered with a smile, and then the nerves were at the limit.
And all this happened despite extra detailed planning we did before the tour. Well, when you arrange something like Road of Bones tour that is normal. No matter how good your plan is, something will go wrong/not according to the plan.
