Riding adventure bikes on gravel roads, beginner course. How to ride gravel roads

Places like Mongolia, Georgia, the Stans (Pamir Highway), Altay Mountains, Magadan and many other attract the adventure riders from all over the world. Moreover, if we are talking about Russia it is not even necessary to approach Magadan to get a proper off-road riding. There are so many decent gravel roads around Moscow area.

Most of the motorcycle riders with heavy bikes will find themselves in a very stressful situation while riding in such places, because an off-road experience is not the thing they have gained in an average driving school.

We have decided to change that and created a adventure bike riding training course in the Southern part of Russia - in Sochi Area.

This course is for those who:

• Are interested in basics and skills of adventure riding down the varieties of unpaved roads (gravel, mud, sand, clay, aggregate etc.)
• Are dreaming about opening a new off-road tourism experience
• Want to improve their defensive driving skills and get some safe riding basics
• Need to brush up their riding skills after a long non-riding winter season, doing it in unobtrusive and friendly atmosphere

Goals of the course – recall the basic motorcycle riding skills, study an off-road riding theory and practice it under control of highly experienced instructors

• Dates 2023: all spring enduro trainings in Sochi finished, in autumn trainings will be in Vladikavkaz
• Duration: 5 days (3 days training + 2 days arrival and departure)
• Price: 1500 Euro (includes BMW F750/850GS rent)
• Price if you ride your own motorcycle: 800 EUR  
• Single room supplement: 150 EUR
• Max. Group size – 6-8 persons
• Venue place – Sochi, Krasnaya Polyana

Itinerary

Day 1. Sochi, arrival

Arriving to Sochi. Meeting at the venue, intro to your bike, checking the gear and signing on. Personal aims and requests are to be discussed at the group dinner.

Important: to prevent any timing issues, please, make sure your arrival time is not later than 3 p.m.

Day 2. Theory and basics at the training ground

Short theory lesson in the morning and we move to the training venue, where we do various exercises:

• Lifting the bike
• U-turning in tight spots
• Proper body positioning
• Road focusing
• Low speed body balancing
• Rut riding

Day 3. On-site training, short rides to the mountains

Today we contunie with doing various excercices on the training ground, we change several locations to try sand, mud, gravel. After lucnh we do short ride to the mountains using various gravel roads to practice with what we just learned.

We will use cofe breakes to discuss the riding skills and manners of the group members and also show you a little bit of Russia.

Day 4. Trail ride

Time to check what we have learned. We are about to do the trail ride. Depending on the weather we will vist Vorontsov caves, Khemelnev lakes or Aishkha mountain pass. All the roads will be gravel or aggregate and as all the trails are in the mountains there will be a decent elevation. Great atmosphere and fun are 100% guaranteed.

A farewell dinner with receiving the certificates will be waiting for us in the evening.
