A few weeks ago we announced a motorcycle tour to the Kola Peninsula. And now – we've drawn a map. What do we see on it?
🟠 The White Sea. We'll ride our motorcycles along its sandy shore. Only at low tide, of course. This is not a mistake – right on the seabed. Because there, at the end of this beach, awaits...
🟠 The Tonya Tetrina. It's not a girl :) And not even a museum in the usual sense. It's a working Pomor fishing settlement (a "tonya") with huts, saltworks, "pryazhinka" boats, and everyday objects of the Pomors. And the road there is only across the exposed seabed and only at certain times.
🟠 White Sea mussels, which we'll try right at the farm in Chupa. It doesn't get any fresher.
🟠 The Barents Sea and Teriberka. Here we will look for whales. And also – we'll feel what it means to be on the very edge: abandoned ships, winds, stone beaches, and beyond – only the Arctic.
🟠 The Lovozero Tundras and Seydozero. Power places of the Kola Peninsula. We only reach them by boat, but it's worth it. Fishing, berries right underfoot. And an overnight stay in a cabin on the lakeshore, in silence and far from everything.
🟠 Also ancient villages of Umba and Varzuga, Sami culture, petroglyphs, lighthouses, of course the Khibiny mountains, and all the magic of the Arctic.
Briefly, the numbers:
▫️ One-way tour, starting either from St. Petersburg or from Murmansk.
▫️ 11 days, 2430 km. 95% asphalt, but there will be 170-180 km of dirt roads.
▫️ 2026 dates: July 1-11 (St.Petersburg-Murmansk, 2 spots left), July 13-23 (Murmansk-St.Petersburg, spots available), August 1-11 (private group), August 13-23 (full group).
If anyone is hesitant because of the cold – we are going beyond the Arctic Circle, after all – then in July-August on the Kola Peninsula it's +15…+20°C and sunny, or rather partly polar day. Despite its status as the Far North, the Kola climate is much milder than in other Russian regions at the same latitude. This happens thanks to the warm Nordkapp Current, a branch of the Gulf Stream. So these months are the perfect time for a motorcycle trip.
So, the Kola motorcycle tour is our new big northern story. A harsh land, but incredibly generous with impressions. Specifically for those who asked for something new and out of the ordinary.
